In October, our Progression Not Perfection group at Burnley FC in the Community spent a powerful day at Whitehough Outdoor Centre, joined by adventurer and influencer Amira from The Wanderlust Women.
Amira is passionate about reconnecting Muslim women with nature, faith, and freedom. Her mission has led her to build a global community rooted in purpose, travel, and sisterhood. From mountain trails to soul-deep conversations, she has guided dozens of women on journeys that prove faith and adventure are not mutually exclusive.
Whitehough Outdoor Centre provided the perfect setting for this kind of transformative experience. Nestled in the heart of Pendle’s natural beauty, the centre offers peaceful woodland, open skies, and a sense of seclusion that invites reflection and connection. Its tranquil surroundings and commitment to inclusive, outdoor learning make it an ideal space for healing, empowerment, and community-building, especially for groups seeking to reconnect with themselves and each other.
Reflecting on the day, Amira shared:
“Today’s workshop was all about empowering and healing women through nature and connection. I have a passion for helping women, and I believe the outdoors is the best therapy. We focused on letting go, through grounding, meditation, and using the natural tools around us to support healing. Most importantly, it was about helping the women reconnect with themselves, because so many of us feel disconnected.”
