Burnley FC in the Community Charity Dinner raises over £88,000

On Saturday 4th May, Burnley FC in the Community welcomed members of the local community along with the Burnley FC Men’s First Team, Vincent Kompany, and the charity’s trustees to the Hilton in Manchester for a night of fundraising and celebration.

The total amount raised during the event has surpassed an incredible £88,000. We are immensely grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to the fundraising efforts of the evening.

The evening was hosted by Dion Dublin and Natalie Sawyer, who kicked off the night by highlighting the significance of the charity’s work through the inspiring story of Jamaal, Burnley FC in the Community’s Community Captain.

Over the course of the night, three additional participant videos were screened, featuring Alfie from the Premier League Kicks and Shadow Youth Team, Troy from Walking Football, and Michelle from Clarets Rise. These videos underscored the broad-reaching impact of Burnley FC in the Community in the local area, demonstrating its ability to positively influence individuals from diverse backgrounds through various projects.

During the dinner, Burnley FC hosted their End of Season Player Awards, kindly sponsored by Vertu and GPS. Burnley FC Women’s goalkeeper Kirstie Levell was awarded both the Player of the Season Award and the Players’ Player of the Season Award for the Women’s team. Meanwhile, Sander Berge from the Men’s First Team secured both Burnley FC’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards for the 2023/24 season.

The evening was packed with games and a continuous silent auction aimed at raising funds for the charity’s various programmes. This was followed by an exciting live auction, featuring a special prize inspired by Burnley FC in the Community’s recent fundraising event, ‘The Big Burnley Breakout.’ Guests were invited to bid for the opportunity to confine a person of their choice in the Burnley Police Station Custody Suite for a day. The prize was claimed by Burnley FC Manager Vincent Kompany, and we eagerly anticipate seeing who he selects to be “locked up” for the day.

The evening’s entertainment was capped off with a special performance by Boyzlife, featuring Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy. Their performance was a hit with all the guests, and soon the dance floor was filled with everyone singing along.

Burnley FC in the Community, extends a heartfelt thank you to all who attended and supported this event in any way. Every single contribution will make a significant impact in our local community!
