BFCitC Veterans Football Team Visit Norway

On Monday 11th September, our Veterans Project Officer John and newly employed veteran, Billy led the way to Norway on a road trip across Europe.

Whilst our Veterans Project Co-Ordinator Daniella and the rest of the Team by plane on the following Wednesday, meeting at Torp Sandefjord Airport.

Upon arrival in rainy Langesund, we played our first match against Norway at Bamble IF stadion. On the third day and after a well-deserved relax and paddleboard in the Stathelle Marina, we took on the Danes!

They were both very tough games, but we are very lucky to have played one at Skagerak Arena, home of the oldest Football Club in Norway, Odds Ballklubb.

On the final day we decided to mix the teams for fun, followed by a BBQ in the sunshine. The different playing conditions in Norway provided a unique experience, even for Burnley!

A big thank you to Øivind, Rúna and the rest of the Norwegian Team for hosting and for the wonderful company of Denmark. Also, a big thank you to our Veterans Department Staff, especially John for making our first international trip possible. We’re super excited about future!

A special mention goes to the companies, organisations, people, and Burnley FC Fans that contributed extra funds to help feed and transport the members of BFCitC Military Veterans Football Team.

Without you, this trip wouldn’t have been possible, and we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This includes, Thorne Fire & Security Ltd , Adam Spencer, Play Fund Win , Lancashire County Council, and the Mackenzie Family.
