Burnley fc in the community x daneshouse fc
Burnley FC in the Community partnered with Daneshouse FC in 2022 to create a female football session, engaging more girls from wider communities and linking them into Daneshouse FC’s grassroots section. We’ve been running these sessions ever since and have seen a huge increase in young girls from multicultural backgrounds.
The girls’ sessions are scheduled outside their religious studies to break down any potential barriers that might prevent girls from diverse communities from attending.

In 2024, we were also highly commended for our partnership with Building Bridges Burnley for the Women in Football’s Promoting Inclusion Award. Our collaboration with Building Bridges has cemented several key events into our calendar, including the Danehouse FC partnership, all with the common goal of breaking boundaries and engaging community members of all faiths.
Burnley FC in the Community’s partnership with Daneshouse FC is supported by the Premier League Fans Fund. The Premier League Fans Fund provides grants to support football clubs at all levels of the game to strengthen connections between them, their fans and local communities. The fund supports a range of fan-focused and fan-led projects, helping to foster a sense of belonging through meaningful engagement. This includes schemes for under-represented groups, to further develop and inclusive and welcoming matchday experience for everyone.
The fund is open to 120 professional football club community organisations in the Premier League, English Football League, National League, Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship. Premier League funding supports projects that respond to local need, and which aim to improve the match day environment for fans and/or residents, address fan behaviour, and community impact such as the cost-of-living crisis, build upon a clubs heritage and engage and support underrepresented fan groups (disability, ethnicity, LGBTQ+, women and girls), and fan behaviour.
Delivery is often themed around tackling inequalities to create community cohesion, covering areas like equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), mental health and wellbeing, physical health and wellbeing, providing education and training opportunities, supporting employability, and/or sustainability.
The Premier League has committed £5 million to the fund from 2023-2025. This will be administered through the Premier League Charitable fund.
