On Sunday 30th June, Burnley FC in the Community held an Emerging Talent Centre Festival in partnership with the Premier League as part of their South Asian Action Plan.
The festival took place at Burnley Training Centre, featuring eight grassroots football teams in the U8s and U9s age groups.
Children from predominantly South Asian heritage backgrounds participated with the aim of winning the tournament and advancing to the national final.
The event was a great success, providing talented players who might not otherwise have had the chance to play in top-quality facilities and an elite environment.
The standard of play was very high, with the Academy identifying several players to invite for additional training sessions with their age groups.
In our ongoing commitment to the clubs that attended, Burnley FC in the Community hosted a CPD (Continuing Professional Development) event for the coaches at Shuttleworth College the following week. This event provided insights into BFCitC and the Club’s Academy.
“It has been a fantastic opportunity to be one of only 12 clubs to hold an Emerging Talent Centre Festival,” Chris Andrews, Head of Football and Education said.
“The level of football displayed on the day was incredibly impressive and it was wonderful to give these young players an opportunity to play at the training ground.”
