Burnley FC in the Community has been recognised at the North West Football Awards, winning the Community Initiative of the Season for its pioneering project, Changing the STEM Story in Burnley.
The initiative, designed to inspire young people and broaden access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) opportunities, was praised for its innovative approach and measurable impact across the local community.
The programme was delivered in collaboration with key partners including Restart Interoperable Digital Care, Safran Group, Michael Bailey, and Gener8 Healthcare. Their support and expertise were instrumental in bringing the project to life and ensuring its success.
In addition to the award win, Burnley FC in the Community was shortlisted for Community Club of the Season, further highlighting the organisation’s commitment to social impact and community engagement.
The evening also saw individual honours for Burnley FC players Zian Flemming and Naomi Hartley, who were named winners of the PFA Community Champion Awards. Both were recognised for their outstanding dedication to the charity’s work and their positive influence on supporters and participants.
