Burnley FC in the Community harness the passion for football in our local community to empower individuals of all ages. Through our programmes, we foster skill development, boost confidence and promote overall health and wellness.

PRE-SCHOOL

The perfect introduction to football for your little one!

Bertie Bees is a fun and engaging football session for children aged 18 months to 3 years, taking place on the indoor pitch at The Leisure Box. Sessions cost just £5 each and are booked in school term-time blocks.

Designed specifically for little ones, each session introduces the fundamentals of football through fun games, activities and play. Alongside getting their first experience of football, children will develop important movement, coordination and sensory skills in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our enthusiastic and experienced coaches put fun at the heart of every session, helping children build confidence, get active and enjoy playing alongside others.

One parent or carer must accompany their child and assist them on the pitch during the session.

The programme runs from Monday 7th September to Monday 7th December. There will be no session during half term on Monday 26th October, and you will not be charged for this week.

FEMALE FOOTBALL

Bella’s Footy Stars is a fun and recreational  football session focused on enjoyment and the development of young female players between the ages of 4-8.

The sessions will include football fundamentals through fun games and activities such as passing and receiving, dribbling, shooting, attacking and defending, small sided games and fun penalty shoot-outs.

Girls will be supervised at all times by FA-qualified and DBS-screened coaches.

The Female Only Skill Centre helps young female players with existing grassroots experience develop their performance. 

The sessions are designed to complement existing training to enhance players skills and attributes. 

Players will receive guidance on what they need to work on and develop, alongside specific feedback from their coaches during their sessions. 

The sessions are open to all girls aged 8-16 and run every Friday at Nelson and Colne College, 5pm-6pm.

Individual sessions priced at £7, or £6 (per session) for block booking

The Emerging Talent Centres identify and develop future potential players by providing local, accessible a high-quality training environment. The Centres offer increased playing time, varied football formats and allow players to play for both an ETC and a grassroots club, school, or representative team, to enhance the variety of playing experience.

The BFC Women Juniors’ programme nurtures and develops homegrown female talent, providing local girls with an opportunity to access high quality training sessions.

A key part of our pathway is to develop local talent

This season, after completing our trial and selection process, we have girls from across the North-West that make up four age-banded teams within BFC Women Juniors: Under 10s, Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 16s

Burnley FC coaches that are UEFA B qualified or equivalent are responsible for the training and development of the homegrown junior teams.    

Players train on average twice a week, with a game at the weekend in the local leagues and the Lancashire FA Girls cup.  

Burnley FC in the Community’s Football and Education programme is delivered in partnership with East Lancashire Learning Group.

The programme gives talented young players between the ages of 16 and 18 the chance to combine academic studies with practical football experience.

MALE FOOTBALL

Bertie’s Footy Stars is Burnley FC in the Community’s fun and recreational Saturday morning and Monday evening football focused on enjoyment and the development of young players between the ages of 3-10. Sessions cost just £5 each and are booked in school term-time blocks.

The sessions will include football fundamentals through fun games and activities such as passing and receiving, dribbling, shooting, attacking and defending, small sided games and fun penalty shoot-outs.

Children will be supervised at all times by FA-qualified and DBS-screened coaches.

Sessions can be booked in school term time blocks, details are below.

Mondays:

· 5pm – 6pm, 3-5 Years Old at The Leisure Box

Saturdays

· 9am – 10am, 3-4 Years Old at The Leisure Box

· 10am – 11am, 5-6 Years Old at The Leisure Box

· 11am- 12pm, 7-10 Years Old at The Leisure Box

The programme will restart on Monday 7th September and run through to Saturday 12th December. Please note there will be no session during half term (commencing Monday 26th October), and you will not be charged for that week.

Burnley FC in the Community’s Football Hubs provide young players with additional high-quality coaching to complement the football they already play with their grassroots club or any other training they receive.

Designed for young footballers aged 6-14 years, our Football Hubs give players the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy more time on the pitch in a positive and challenging coaching environment.

Sessions focus on key areas of player development, including passing and receiving, dribbling, finishing, movement, decision-making and game-based practices. Our coaches encourage players to express themselves, develop their understanding of the game and continue progressing as footballers.

The programme runs during school term time, with blocks consisting of approximately 10-12 sessions. Sessions cost just £5 each and are booked in school term-time blocks. Details of our current Football Hubs can be found below.

Tuesdays:

5pm – 6pm, 6-14 Years Old at Prairie Sports Village

The session also includes our Boys Goalkeeper Hub, providing specialist goalkeeper coaching alongside our outfield player development sessions that can be booked on our shop.

Thursdays:

5pm – 6pm, 7-10 Years Old at The Leisure Box

Our Thursday Football Hub takes place on the indoor pitch at The Leisure Box and is designed for players looking for additional technical development for their game.

Burnley FC in the Community’s Player Development Centre is the pathway for young players within the local area to develop and excel on the pitch. 

The centres offer young and ambitious players aged 9-16 the chance to train weekly, coaching with UEFA licenced coaches at venues situated in key areas around Burnley.

Future Clarets is the official player development centre and talent identification programme run by BFC/BFCitC. In partnership with the aiScout AI app, it gives young players aged 7 to 14 the chance to train with official club couches and potential to earn an academy trial.

Burnley FC in the Community’s Football and Education programme is delivered in partnership with East Lancashire Learning Group.

18+

Whether you’re looking to get active, meet new people or support your physical and mental wellbeing, Walking Football at The Leisure Box is a great way to enjoy football in a friendly and welcoming environment.

For just £4 per session, our sessions are aimed at individuals aged 50+, although anyone aged 18 and over is welcome to get involved. Whether you’ve played football for years or simply fancy trying something new, all abilities and experience levels are welcome. There’s no need to book, simply turn up and pay on the day.

Each session features friendly 5-a-side and 7-a-side games, with the slower-paced format making football more accessible while still providing plenty of opportunity to get moving, enjoy some friendly competition and be part of a team.

Sessions are supervised by FA-qualified and DBS-screened coaches, helping to create a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Sessions run on Tuesdays from 11:00am to 12:30pm at The Leisure Box.

The programme will restart on Tuesday 8th September and run through to Tuesday 8th December. Please note there will be no session during half term on Tuesday 27th October, and you will not be charged for that week.
