Han-Noah Massengo wins PFA Community Champion Award!

Han-Noah Massengo has been awarded Burnley Football Club’s 2023/24 PFA Community Champion Award for his contribution to the local community.

The award is provided by the Professional Footballers’ Association and this season was presented to Massengo by participant Harry, from Burnley FC in the Community’s Shadow Youth Team.

The Shadow Youth Team is delivered by Burnley FC in the Community staff in partnership with Nelson and Colne College and offers talented young players between the ages of 16 and 18 the chance to combine academic studies with practical football experience.

Harry had met Massengo when he visited the college in January this year, to speak to students from the charity’s Shadow Youth Team, Netball Academy and Cricket Academy.

In addition to the visit, Massengo donated several bags of clothes which the charity stocked in a Pop-Up shop and exceptional students and those facing more challenging circumstances were given the opportunity to select items from the shop.

The 22-year-old’s commitment to the charity’s work within the local community continued throughout the campaign, with a visit to the Schools’ Mental Wellbeing Project, as well as embracing life in Lancashire off the pitch.

On the award, Burnley FC in the Community Chief Executive Officer Helen Gurman said: “We wanted to take this moment to present Han-Noah with our Community Champion Award and thank him for the support he has provided to the charity this season.

From visiting our Schools’ Mental Wellbeing Project to making a substantial clothes donation to our Nelson and Colne College students, his dedication to the community off the pitch has made a significant impact here in Burnley. For that, we are incredibly grateful!”

Harry added: “It was an honour to meet Han-Noah for the second time this season and present him with the Community Champion Award. As a huge Burnley fan, it means a lot to us when the players take the time to meet and support us. His donation to Nelson and Colne College this season was amazing for me and my teammates.”
