At Burnley FC in the Community, we’re proud to be partnering with VEKA UK to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Older Persons with a special community event dedicated to bringing people together through connection, activity and friendship.
The event will welcome adults aged 50 and over, care home residents, carers, family members and participants from our Health & Wellbeing programmes for a day focused on social connection, health and wellbeing, and celebrating the positive contribution people continue to make within our communities.
Why International Day of Older Persons Matters
Observed around the world each year, the United Nations International Day of Older Persons recognises the important role older adults play in society. It also helps raise awareness of the challenges some individuals may face while promoting dignity, independence and stronger connections between generations.
At Burnley FC in the Community, we’re committed to creating opportunities that help people stay active, connected and involved in community life. Working alongside VEKA UK, this event reflects our shared belief that everyone should have access to welcoming spaces where they can build friendships, enjoy new experiences and support their wellbeing.
Supporting Health and Wellbeing Across Burnley
Across Burnley and East Lancashire, many people can experience barriers to staying active and socially connected. Through our Health & Wellbeing programmes, we work every day to help tackle social isolation, encourage physical activity and create opportunities for people to connect with others in their local area.
This event will celebrate the impact of that work while introducing even more people to the support, activities and opportunities available through Burnley FC in the Community.
