On Friday 11th August, Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) had the honour of hosting NFL superstar J.J. Watt and professional soccer player Kealia Watt at our facility, The Leisure Box.
The day began with J.J. Watt making a surprise appearance at BFCitC’s summer activity camps where J.J. took part in an American Football session with the children. Our Sports Development Manager, Chanelle McManus said, “We were thrilled to give young people in Burnley the opportunity to play alongside J.J. Watt. It’s an experience they’ll remember for a long time to come”.
Following their visit to the summer camps, J.J. and Kealia were up for an exciting challenge. They took on three football-related challenges against BFCitC’s community staff, showcasing their competitive spirits and sporting talents.
To finish off their visit, the couple visited our Limitless Clarets Disability Football Session and saw our participants in action.
The visit of J.J. and Kealia Watt left a lasting impact on Burnley FC in the Community and the local children. It not only provided unforgettable memories but also underscored the importance of community engagement and inclusivity in sports.
BFCitC expressed its gratitude to the Watt couple for their inspiring visit and looked forward to future collaborations that promote the power of sports to unite communities.
