Progression Not Perfection Shortlisted for NWFA Award

We’re delighted to share that our Progression Not Perfection programme has been shortlisted for Community Initiative of the Season – Premier League at the North West Football Awards 2026.

The North West Football Awards celebrate the people, projects and organisations making a positive impact across football and local communities throughout the region.

Designed for South Asian women, Progression Not Perfection provides a welcoming space where participants can prioritise their health and wellbeing, build confidence, develop new skills and connect with others.

Since launching, the programme has grown significantly, driven by the women at its heart. Through their commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to support one another, participants have helped create a strong and inclusive community where friendships flourish, experiences are shared and personal goals are achieved.

The programme continues to bring women together to learn, grow and access new opportunities, while fostering a greater sense of belonging and connection within the local community.

Being shortlisted for Community Initiative of the Season is recognition of the positive impact the programme continues to have, as well as the incredible women who make it what it is.

Their involvement, achievements and ongoing support for one another have helped Progression Not Perfection develop into a thriving community that empowers women to take positive steps towards their goals and aspirations.

Farrah Imtiaz, Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator at Burnley FC in the Community, said:

“We could not be prouder to have been shortlisted. This programme continues to grow rapidly and we are delighted to see it recognised. The opportunities we’ve been able to offer women in our local community are beyond anything we imagined possible.”

This recognition is a testament to everyone involved in Progression Not Perfection, particularly the women who continue to inspire, encourage and support one another every day.

We look forward to celebrating alongside fellow finalists at the North West Football Awards later this year and recognising the positive difference that community programmes continue to make across the region.
