Shining the Spotlight On Two of Our Sports Coaches

This week, we want to shine the spotlight on two of our sports coaches that we believe have brilliant stories to tell about their time working for Burnley FC in the Community and how they have developed with us.

Firstly, we had the chance to chat with Tom Andrews, one of our Football Development Coaches, to learn more about why he enjoys working at Burnley FC in the Community.

“I began my role as a Football Development Coach at BFCitC in October. Prior to this position, I was a casual coach for the charity for over two years. Working here is incredibly rewarding. I get to coach across various programmes and while I’m officially part of the Sports Development Team, I also play a significant role with our BFC Women’s Juniors and Shadow Youth Team. In my sessions, I focus on both collective and individual training for goalkeepers and outfield players.

The most fulfilling aspect of my job is witnessing the positive impact our sessions have on the players. Seeing them progress and succeed is what drives me to continue supporting their development.”

We also had a chance to talk with our Female Football Development Coach Beth who recently shared with us her coaching journey within the charity.

“I’ve been with the charity for nearly two years. I started on the Education team but my true passion has always been coaching female football. Transitioning into the role of Female Football Development Coach has been immensely fulfilling, with each day bringing new challenges and opportunities to work with incredibly talented girls. My main focus is overseeing the Female Only Skill Centre, where we aim to boost participation and enhance skills with UEFA coaches.

I also coach on our Post-16 programme! I find it really rewarding to help girls balance education and sport. Mentoring the girls to the next level of their football journey is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my role, adapting to their individual styles and aiding their progression.”

We’d like to say a huge thank you to both Tom and Beth for all of their hard work in our community!
