Water Primary School win 3rd Place in Regional Girls U11s Tournament!

Last week our brilliant U11’s team from Water Primary School came in 3rd place in the Regional Girls Tournament.

The girls arrived in fantastic moods and were raring to go. The morning included 5 games back-to-back in which they won an incredible four out of five. In the afternoon, we faced 5 more teams including Manchester United and Manchester City.

The girl kept in high spirits as they won another two matches! Unfortunately, after a long day and touch competition the girls conceded their final two matches but still came in an unbelievable third place.

After all the games were completed, Olivia Newbitt one of our Primary Stars participants, was awarded with the ‘Be Inspiring Award’ for never giving up and inspiring other girls to keep pushing! Burnley FC and Water Primary were commended on their performances and efforts.

We spoke to Tracy Cuthbertson, Chair of Governors at Water Primary school, who said “I am absolutely ecstatic that the children of Water Primary School have been so successful in achieving such amazing results at the Regional Girls U11s tournament.

Their success is testament to the girl’s hard work and determination and embedded through the fantastic collaborative work of Water Primary School and BFCitC. The core values of our small school have once again been demonstrated at a regional level showing how respect, self-belief, resilience, being healthy and active are at the heart of everything we do, and I would like to thank staff and teachers from the school and the Education Team at BFCitC for supporting all children at Water Primary school”.

We were delighted to have the support of Burnley FC First Team Women’s Player Olivia Wilson, who said “I have no words! One of my proudest moments was watching these girls, playing with freedom, and enjoying themselves!

Burnley FC in the Community would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to Water Primary School and Olivia Wilson for her support.
